I started the day by meeting up with Per, who is a part of the NCF project, I travelled to Africa to start. Per lives in Tanzania and is very familiar with the culture. I told Per about an experience I had when I visited one of the small villages in Kenya to demonstrate PP Power…

I had brought biscuits to the kids in the village. I brought plenty so everyone could get a packet, but the kids throw themselves over me and the box of biscuits, even though there was enough for everyone. I feel like it is everyone’s fight against each other for survival – even as kids.

Per told me about similar episodes he has experienced, and we talked about the cultural differences I have experienced here. After talking to Per, I went with Ian, our Country Manager, to have a follow-up meeting where Livinus from Kakute also attended. It was a good meeting where we set up the framework for the upcoming projects.

After finishing up my meetings I arranged with our driver Arnold to pick me up and drive me to the Center of ActionAid Denmark outside Arusha on the way to the airport. Here I spent the last two days following up with papers and emails. In the evening, I met a group of people from DanChurchAid who wanted me to explain about our PP Power solution. Some locals from Malawi wanted to hear more about the battery, and this is generally something I often experience down here – the interest is great.

I travel home from my trip to Africa with lots of great meetings, new relationships and the start of the NCF project, and I am looking forward to returning soon 🙂
